Richard Surrency

Richard Surrency is IQ-EQ’s Group Chief Commercial Officer, based in London.

Richard is responsible for the Group’s commercial and segment strategy, growth plans and go-to-market approach, and for nurturing a unified global commercial and sales culture with people at its core.

With over 25 years of board-level executive leadership and general management experience, Richard is passionate about helping companies accelerate revenue and market expansion, build and launch new business lines, create competitive product roadmaps, forge strategic channel partnerships, build teams and cultures globally, and deliver consistent financial performance.

Richard’s significant industry experience includes specialist sales expertise across private equity, private credit, venture capital, insurance, infrastructure debt and technology. Beyond a proven ability to drive revenue, he has also been recognised for his authentic leadership style and prioritisation of talent development. He prides himself on building effective teams and collaborative working environments that inspire innovation.

Before relocating from Singapore to London and joining IQ-EQ in 2025, Richard was Chief Executive Officer for APAC at Aviva Investors, the asset management arm of FTSE100 insurance company Aviva plc, and prior to that he was Head of Private Markets and Alternatives, APAC at global investment management firm Franklin Templeton. He’s also previously held regional senior leadership positions with Algebris Investments, Morgan Stanley and BNY Mellon.

Outside of the office, Richard is an avowed petrolhead as well as an avid student of history and business strategy. To relax, he enjoys nothing more than cooking or taking a stroll in the park with his family and his fabulous pug, Doodles.
