SGG Group wins Africa Global Funds award for private equity fund administration

We are delighted to reveal that SGG has won the ‘Fund administrator: private equity funds over $20bn’ award in the 2018 Africa Global Funds (AGF) Africa Service Providers Awards.

The AGF Africa Service Providers Awards are dedicated to promoting excellence in the African fund industry. These awards are designed to recognise business excellence, integrity and leadership among fund service providers operating in the continent. The judging panel consists of experienced professionals who have a good knowledge of Africa’s fund industry.

Commenting on the award, Justin Partington, our Group Funds Solutions Leader, said:

“This award is a great endorsement for SGG’s focused African strategy. We have built our onshore presence in South Africa via the acquisition of Viacert, which is a boutique provider of financial statement preparation services to alternative asset fund managers in South Africa and globally.

“On behalf of our dedicated and expert colleagues, I am delighted to accept this award that recognises our reputation for providing exceptional service delivery to leading fund managers in Africa or investing in Africa.”

In line with this particular award, we’re also pleased to announce that we have recently appointed Charles Buchanan as Managing Director for South Africa Fund Services.

Charles has over 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry in South Africa and the United Kingdom, having worked for Barclays Capital, Rand Merchant Bank, Catalyst Fund Managers and, most recently, Maitland. He will be in charge of implementing SGG’s onshore South African fund services strategy under the leadership of Edan Latzelsberger, Commercial Director of SGG Mauritius. Charles will be based in Cape Town, expanding the firm’s South African footprint beyond its existing operations in Johannesburg.
