IQ-EQ subsidiary Peru & Partners, an expert fund services provider dedicated to the French private equity market, has assisted healthcare investment firm Lauxera Capital Partners with the successful launch of its first fund. Lauxera Growth I, a HealthTech growth/buyout fund, has raised €100 million in its first close with Peru & Partners performing the role of CFO.
Lauxera Capital Partners is a new, independent investment firm focused on facilitating growth in healthcare companies. The firm, created in 2020, has partners located in Paris and San Francisco to serve as a bridge between EU-born healthcare technologies and US customers and capital markets. Together, its three founding partners have already deployed billions of euros supporting the international expansion of their HealthTech portfolio companies.
Lauxera Growth I represents the Lauxera Capital’s maiden fund launch and is focused on supporting European HealthTech start-ups and ultimately improving Europe’s healthcare system – particularly in light of the struggles caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The fund achieved approximately €100 million in its first closing, which took place at the end of January 2021. Attracting capital from institutional investors, strategic investors and renowned family offices alike, the fund notably met this key fundraising milestone less than six months after Lauxera Capital’s launch, despite ongoing Covid-19 disruption and travel restrictions.
Discussing the fund launch, Lauxera Capital co-founder Pierre Moustial commented: “The Covid-19 crisis has highlighted the weaknesses of our healthcare systems. Our goal is to disseminate innovations that improve the quality and robustness of healthcare delivery through health technology. Lauxera Growth I brings the experience, know-how and capital necessary for the international development of companies and technologies that are capable of transforming our healthcare systems while creating sustainable economic, societal and medical value.”
Peru & Partners has helped Lauxera Capital manage its fund-raising through its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Secondment offering, acting as CFO for the investment firm. Regarding this involvement, Pierre added: “In fulfilling the role of CFO for our newly created company, Peru & Partners have proved themselves to be a valuable, trusted partner as we strive to achieve our goals. They have made a real difference and we are pleased to have them on board.”
