We spent the day at Kinderboerderij de Boerenzwaluw, a children’s farm with a mission for children and adults to meet animals and to support people with disabilities to work independently around the farm.
The team were given various tasks to improve the farm. They cut our branches, planted bulbs and seeds for the butterfly garden, fixed fairy lights under canvas, creatively painted a cable reel and worked around the kids’ playground area. Despite the rain it was a day of hard work and heartwarming moments.
Our actions reflected the ABC value, authentic in our commitment, bold in tackling the tasks, and collaborative in working together as a team.
We also took time to connect with the farm’s animals, sharing moments of joy and simplicity. Volunteering at the children’s farm allowed us to make a difference, and we left with a sense of contentment and a stronger team bond.
Thank you, CHESS committee, for organising this volunteer day and we look forward to more opportunities to give back.
