VAT (Assistant) Manager

Job Description

  • We are seeking a skilled VAT Compliance Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of VAT compliance clients, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of VAT-related services. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • VAT Compliance Services: Prepare and/or review deliverables related to VAT compliance services, including VAT registration application files, VAT returns, and other associated documents. Ensure all filings are accurate and submitted within the required deadlines.
  • Client Support: Act as the primary point of contact for client servicing teams on VAT-related matters, providing guidance and support to ensure compliance with local and international VAT regulations.
  • Communication: Facilitate effective and efficient communication with accounting teams, tax authorities, and clients. Ensure that queries are addressed promptly and that all stakeholders are kept informed of relevant updates and changes.
  • Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of VAT compliance clients, including those with local operations. Provide ad-hoc advice and guidance as required, helping clients navigate complex VAT scenarios and compliance challenges.
  • Team Supervision and Training: Supervise the work of VAT team members, providing mentorship and training as needed. Foster a collaborative team environment, encouraging continuous learning and professional development.
  • Process Improvement: Take a proactive role in developing a centralised compliance team by optimising client follow-up procedures and enhancing internal processes to improve efficiency and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: A bachelor's or master's degree, or equivalent qualification in Tax Law, Business Law, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 4 years of relevant work experience in the VAT compliance field within the Luxembourgish market. Demonstrated expertise in managing VAT compliance for a variety of clients is essential.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven track record of building and maintaining business relationships based on trust, confidence, and excellent service delivery.
  • Multicultural Competence: Comfortable working in multicultural environments that are built on a shared culture of teamwork, mutual respect, and openness. Able to navigate and contribute to diverse teams effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise, and accurate reports. Excellent research and analytical skills are also required.
  • Organisational Skills: Highly organised with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively. Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with VAT compliance software is an advantage.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English, any additional language is an asset
