Senior Technical Accountant

Job Description

Senior Technical Accountants are key members of our independent team of accounting and administration experts, currently supporting the Funds & Asset Managers Segment of IQ-EQ.  The team provides technical accounting and administration advice on complex or novel issues faced to global client services (CS) teams, sales and implementation teams, and global clients.

Senior Technical Accountants be at the forefront of the private equity and real estate fund industry, researching developments to be shared with stakeholders across the business. You will have a 'can do', collaborative attitude and enjoy finding solutions to complex problems.

Senior Technical Accountants take on additional responsibility for supporting Technical Accountants on technical queries/team projects and assume day-to-day team leadership tasks such as Team Workflow Management.

.Day to day:

  • Resolve and assist with technical accounting queries raised by CS teams and clients in a timely manner via a Helpdesk service, and support sales and implementation teams on queries for prospective clients across a range of GAAPs (UK, IFRS, US, Lux and others);
  • Review key operational legal documents at new Client take-on and assess their administrative feasibility for Client feedback
  • Effectively communicate and present technical accounting information to CS teams and provide the company’s view on technical accounting issues to senior client staff, auditors and to Clients when required;
  • Provide quality reviews for CS teams to assure quality of deliverables across the clients, including working papers, financial statements disclosures and other complex deliverables
  • Preparation and review of carried interest / waterfall models, assist with implementation of automation projects
  • Research and interpret complex structures and related accounting literature including the use of internal and external resources
  • Identify areas in which the CS teams require additional support, either for specific clients or on a broader basis, and suggest appropriate remedial action (controls, tools)
  • Develop awareness of relevant changes to industry practices affecting PE and property fund operations (accounting, regulatory)
  • Support Technical Accountants in the Technical Accounting Team
  • Maintain in-house library of technical journals, articles and documentation relating to accounting issues
  • Assist in the development and delivery of technical accounting updates and other workshops or learning sessions.
  • Identify, scope and lead on Technical Accounting Team efficiency and other improvement projects
  • Opportunities to work with senior management and external clients on operational and strategic projects
  • Assist with Technical Team workflow management

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge in Private Equity and experience with different accounting standard is a plus.
  • Will be on midshift schedule (3pm to 12midnight MNL Time) to support UK Region.
  • Qualified Accountant (CPA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Previous experience working directly with different accounting standards e.g. IFRS/UK GAAP/ Lux GAAP/ US GAAP
  • Experience in preparation and review of financial reporting
  • Audit and/or finance industry exposure (preferable)
  • Closed ended funds / open ended funds / hedge funds knowledge (preferable)
  • Experience working on financial modelling (e.g. carried interest models, forecasting models) (desirable)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with financial computations
  • Comfortable communicating with senior management
  • Experience of training / mentoring of members of a team
