Senior Accountant

Job Description

The Accounts Officer provides support to department activities with specific responsibility for the processing, recording, updating and reconciling information in compliance with established policies and procedures and to prepare and input information for the purpose of generating accounts and management information for any IQEQ Group entity.

Tasks

  • Process, record, update and reconcile accounting transactions of medium and high complexity.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly/yearly accounts and other reports for management and group reporting.
  • Verify and submit all Tax and other statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, NPS, Corporate Tax, etc).
  • Prepare statutory financial statements including notes to accounts.
  • Check cash flow, treasury management and ensure proper reconciliation is done.
  • Provide coaching and assistance to junior team members.
  • Revert on queries from internal clients.
  • Liaise and provide information to Senior Management and Group, including preparation of ad-hoc reports.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and other business stakeholders.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders, including internal, external auditors, banks and government agencies.
  • Provide support to Finance Manager and Head of Finance for the respective IQEQ Group entity as and when required.
  • Ensure that current financial and accounting policies, systems and procedures operate effectively.
  • To ensure protections of information assets of IQEQ Group and to abide by the ISMS in place at IQEQ MU.

Qualifications

  • Education / professional qualifications
  • Degree Holder in Finance / Management / Accounting/ Economics, Qualified ACCA or Partly Qualified ACCA with sufficient work experience to compensate
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in a similar role would be an advantage
  • Technical Sound and up to date knowledge of International
  • Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and other applicable laws and regulations
  • Computer / program knowledge
  • Very good Office tools skills and good knowledge of Excel modelling tools
  • English Language is Mandatory (both written and oral)
