Global Infrastructure Engineer – Data Administrator

Job Description

Responsibilities (how we will measure success)

  • Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases for high availability and optimal performance.
  • Implement and manage robust database backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Monitor and tune databases to ensure peak performance and scalability, including optimizing SQL queries and indexing strategies.
  • Maintain data integrity and accuracy through continuous monitoring and regular audits.
  • Diagnose and resolve database-related issues quickly and effectively.
  • Perform database migrations, upgrades, and patches with minimal downtime.
  • Capacity planning and forecasting system growth for additional resource requirement
  • Support SQL server estate across Prod/UAT/Dev environments.

Tasks (what does the role do on a day-to-day basis)

  • Use tools like SQL Sentry or SSMS to ensure databases are running to optimal standards.
  • Index maintenance to speed up query execution and reduce system load.
  • Reorganizing indexes and updating statistics
  • Assist in queries for new or existing applications, ensuring optimal structure and performance.
  • Document detail changes to databases structure including configurations and performance.
  • Assist in the generation of SQL reports that may be required for the business.
  • Resolve audit findings through change management process.
  • Provide support in application upgrades and releases.
  • Performing routing data updates, patches etc
  • Assist in the support of disaster recovery procedures.
  • Ensuring SQL server workloads are distributed evenly across the infrastructure.

Qualifications

Required Experience


Education / professional qualifications

  • Graduate degree, preferably in IT related disciplines
  • Microsoft Certifications would be preferred

Background experience

  • Strong Risk & Security awareness
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Experience of SQL failover clustering and availability groups, transparent data encryption
  • Experience of SQL Server integration and reporting services
  • Experience on a variety of SQL Server Operating systems.
  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL would be a nice to have.

Company, product, and market knowledge

  • Experience of working in a complex, multi-country professional services, financial services or
  • BPO organisation with complex processing requirements preferred but not essential.
  • Multi-country experience and demonstrates an ability to work in a multi-cultural, talented, and demanding team environment.
  • Possess the skills and the personality to operate effectively in a very fast-paced complex global business with an in-depth knowledge of program management.
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and oral form, with staff members, customers, suppliers, and the management team with the ability to make decisions, act and get results.

Languages

  • Fully proficient spoken and written English, additional European languages will be an asset
