Associate Manager – Funds and Corporate Services

Job Description

The Associate Manager (AM) operates in our Financial Statements production unit out of South Africa. The AM mainly deals with the preparation and technical review of our clients’ (globally and locally) financial statements, including the on-boarding of new clients and ensure throughout the year existing engagements is executed at optimal efficient levels. Our AM should be able to deal with complex matters and be able to handle large amount of data. The AM will be responsible to manage junior staff and deals directly with clients and auditors on engagements, ensuring delivering of quality product in timely manner.

Tasks (what does the role do on a day-to-day basis)

Monthly management accounting:

  • Discuss with the client the requirements in each specific case
  • Execute the tasks agreed with the clients
  • Ensure clients’ staff are performing their required duties
  • Timely reporting to the Director
  • Add value to our clients’ systems and processes

Financial Statements review:

  • Manage a team to ensure agreed deadlines are adhered to
  • Coach junior staff
  • Report any issues noted from the review to the Director
  • Manage client expectations
  • Review AFS and ensure AFS is in accordance with the applicable reporting framework

Qualifications

Education / professional qualifications

  • CA (SA) preferable
  • Or busy completing CA (SA) (post articles).

Background experience

  • Completed SAICA training contract (articles)
  • If not CA (SA) yet - 2 years post articles experience in a financial manager role.
  • Industry – Financial Services

Technical

  • Solid knowledge of IFRS and related accounting frameworks.
  • US GAAP (investment funds) experience a bonus

Computer / program knowledge

  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
  • CaseWare
  • Pastel/Xero
  • SARS efiling

Company, product and market knowledge

  • Investment Funds
  • Financial Statements (IFRS)

Management and leadership

  • CA – leading teams in audit environment
  • Non-CA – managerial experience

Languages

  • English. Some clients are Afrikaans, but not a requirement.
