ASSISTANT MANAGER, REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
Office: Isle of Man Cluster
Department: Risk & Compliance
Reports to: Risk & Compliance Head of Compliance
The overall goal of the Risk & Compliance function is to protect the IQ EQ Group brand and to support the successful execution of the Group's business strategy through the delivery of an integrated compliance culture and programme across the Group. Risk & Compliance aims to support the IQ EQ and FNTC Boards of Directors and senior management to fulfil their statutory and regulatory obligations, by helping to ensure compliance with the laws, regulations, principles and codes established by our regulators.
Responsibilities (how we will measure success)
The role holder will discharge the following principal responsibilities:
- Act as a role model to implement a culture which supports the IQ EQ Brand Values and DNA to deliver excellent client service, operational effectiveness and efficiencies
- Support Group initiatives for open, inclusive, three-way internal communication and all elements of the Balanced Contribution framework
- Participate fully and proactively in promotion of Compliance culture within the Business
- Support the Compliance Team in building effective working relationships across all business areas and locations
- Develop effective relationships within the Compliance Department and across other departments
- Encourage Compliance administrators to participate in Compliance initiatives and provide mentoring
- Provide support and guidance to team members when required
- Proactively monitor Compliance issues, including items on registers, to ensure records are up to date to enable timely reporting
- Process Project tasks in timely and accurate manner to ensure that deadlines can be met
- Complete miscellaneous Compliance and administrative tasks as required from time to time
- Deal with requests from the business and other members of the team accurately and in a timely manner
- Undertake tasks and workflows in a timely manner
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, service standards, company policies and procedures and agreed operational and control processes
- Use your own judgement to bring to the attention of management any issues which you feel appropriate, in particular ensuring that concerns and identified risks are reporting in a timely and effective manner
- Maintain Compliance registers
- Take appropriate action in respect of Compliance matters, whether from registers, monitoring tasks or other issues as they arise
- Collaboratively work with Compliance Manager and other management to identify and mitigate the business’s exposure to risk
- Undertake tasks and workflows to assist in producing reports and statistics
- Monitor Compliance Calendar
- Arranging RACC meetings, gathering papers, chasing outstanding actions, act as Secretary
- Assist the Head of Compliance in dealing with matters pertaining to the regulatory status of IQ-EQ in Isle of Man and compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations.
- Actively contribute to initiatives to improve processes to drive operational excellence.
Tasks (what does the role do on a day-to-day basis)
- Proactively participate in the promotion of a constructive “pro-compliance” culture at local level
- Support the function to deliver processes and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws, service standards, company policies and procedures and agreed operational and control processes
- Use judgement to bring to the attention of management any issues which you feel appropriate, in particular ensuring that concerns and identified risks are reported in a timely and effective manner
- Maintain regulatory and administrative registers – complaints, breaches, high risk & PEP, horizon scanning, outsourcing, regulatory contact, and key persons register
- Review, consider, follow up on outstanding issues resulting from administrative registers, through to resolution
- Completing Fitness & Propriety Forms and submissions
- Monitoring the Compliance inbox, dealing with queries or allocating items appropriately
- Assist in completing Compliance Monitoring tests
- Assist with queries from regulators and auditors
- Assist with providing MI for various Board reports
- Monitor training records, following up on due and overdue items referring where necessary
- Assisting with the team calendar
- Creating, updating or providing comments on policies and procedures
- Review of The International Stock Exchange documentation, approving prior to submission
- Review and approve marketing materials
- Complete Compliance projects
- Assist with queries within the business
- Provide support to the Compliance Team
Qualifications
Required Experience
- Good inter-personal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines
- Ability to adapt and work to meet both Team and Client expectations
Education / professional qualifications -
- Relevant professional qualification such as an ICA Compliance Certificate
Background experience -
- Trust Company experience preferred, preferably a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
Technical -
- Experience/knowledge of working in a Fiduciary environment
- Practical knowledge and application of Isle of Man regulations
Computer / program knowledge -
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good IT systems knowledge, excellent administrative skills, high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Management and leadership -
- Supporting more junior team members, cross training and promoting teamwork and collaboration amongst others
