Assistant Manager, Fund Accounting

Job Description

The primary technical expert responsible for ensuring excellence in complex fund accounting services 
through expertise and final review authority. This role serves as the ultimate subject matter expert for 
the team on complex accounting matters, leading technical decisions and process innovations while 
providing authoritative guidance on sophisticated client portfolios and advanced accounting modules.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Serve as ultimate technical authority at a team level, for complex accounting matters
  • Provide final review of sophisticated accounting deliverables
  • Drive technical excellence and innovation in accounting processes
  • Lead development of technical standards and methodologies within the team
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, statutory requirements, and internal policies
  • Establish and maintain technical best practices
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders (cluster), addressing queries and issues
  • Guide technical development of team members through client specific training, coaching and feedback
  • Function as primary technical expert for client specific information across the fund segment including BOLT On, PE Advanced and related products and services

Tasks:

  • Review and sign off on complex financial reports, ensuring adherence to client agreements and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee the preparation and review of NAV calculations, capital calls, distributions, and investor communications
  • Document exceptions and prepare error reports 
  • Coordinate with cluster partners or clients on deadlines and deliverables, planning and assigning workload within the team
  • Represent the team in cluster/client meetings and internal discussions
  • Address complex client issues and transactions, making decisions on proper treatments and escalating when necessary
  • Review and approve standard operating procedures before deploying to team members for usage
  • Monitor and ensure the resolution of all review comments and queries within agreed timeframes
  • Draft and review error reports and compliance cases, proposing corrective actions and preventive measures
  • Stay updated on new methodologies, standards, and regulations, ensuring their application within the team
  • Track work progress through timesheet completion 
  • Participate in required training programs
  • Perform other related duties as assigned for role and business needs

Qualifications

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred

Professional Experience:

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience, 4 years of which are in fund accounting, financial reporting, or audit, with a focus on complex portfolios and advanced accounting modules
  • Proven track record of serving as a subject matter expert in technical accounting and driving process innovation

  • Capable of planning and assigning workload while ensuring timely resolution of review comments and queries
  • Coaching skills to guide team members in technical development through training, group discussions, and feedback
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with internal stakeholders and cluster partners
  • Proactive and detail-oriented, ensuring compliance and technical accuracy across all deliverables
  • Innovative mindset with a focus on process improvement and staying updated on new methodologies and standards
