Shabniz Panawoolla is a Senior Client Services Manager for Funds, based in our London office. She joined the ACCA graduate programme straight after her A-levels in Mauritius.
In November 2018, Shabniz took part in the Explorer-Ascent Programme, which helped her personal development and gave her the opportunity to work with a seasoned mentor in the business. Speaking about the programme, she said: “It was a fantastic experience to develop myself as an individual and my mentor’s support, guidance and advice was and will always be important to me.”
After spending a decade with the team in Mauritius and several promotions later, Shabniz took the next big step and moved to London to join the Funds team. Moving countries and starting a new job during a pandemic wasn’t easy, but Shabniz decided to meet the challenge head on. Thanks to great colleagues on the Funds teams and our Technology team she managed to settle in quickly - working remotely from home.
Speaking of settling in and what she misses the most about Mauritius, Shabniz commented: “Honestly settling into London or any other part of the world takes its own time to adapt to the new environment, lifestyle, day-to-day life or culture. I miss my family a lot especially in this situation where you don’t know when you can travel to visit them. And I miss the Mauritius sun and beach, if you have been to Mauritius then you can relate to what I’m missing.”
Finally, Shabniz offers some advice to anyone considering a career at IQ-EQ. She shared, “I’m a living example of the opportunities IQ-EQ can offer - in terms of promotion and global mobility - seize the day!”
