Mental Health Week and Nature in IQ-EQ

The theme of Mental Health Week this year was nature. Plants are proven to improve our psychological and physical well-being and help us feel calmer, more relaxed and decreases our levels of anxiety.

After working remotely for over a year, we encouraged all our employees to get outside, take a break and enjoy nature. Check out some of the activities arranged by offices across IQ-EQ Group.

In Jersey, each employee received a plant called “Hope”. In the past a year, we were forced to change our working environment from the offices to working from home, impacting how we communicate, which can affect our emotions. The Hope plant was a wish for everyone to have a better and brighter 2021.

Our team in Guernsey arranged a sunflower competition with the plants from a local charity, Grow Limited. They also had a sleep coach for the sleep-better-live-better activity.

In Luxembourg, they also had sunflower well-being learning sessions for people’s mental, physical, and social well-being. A part of the local HR team and other colleagues joined a 12-hour certification course for mental health first-aid officers, showing their support for others.

There were also heaps of mental health sessions organised in different locations. The Jersey team focused on dementia, discussing the impacts of living with dementia both for the individual and carers supporting people with dementia and the support available.

The Manila team arranged “Being Kind to Your Mind” an online mental wellness talk with Counsellor Wendy to raise awareness about mental health.

Our IQ-EQ team in the US organised a “Wear Green Day” to encourage employees to wear green together in the office or at home. They also arranged a “Connect with Nature” activity, which recommended all employees take a Vitamin D break, go to their local nursery and bring nature home with a new plant or flower for their workspace and take a ‘shelfie’ of their new addition.

The UK and Ireland cluster and Mauritius team helped people get fit. They held live workouts, yoga sessions and workshops to help colleagues to relieve stress and improve their physiological health at the same time.
