IQ-EQ Mauritius teams organised a series of creative activities for mental health awareness. We’re delighted to share that more than 300 employees participated in our jam-packed Mental Health Awareness month.
Here is a summary of all the activities from 9 to 27 May 2022.
Make your own stress ball
The body tends to tighten up when it gets too stressed. A physical release like squeezing a stress ball can loosen some of that tension, helping us to relax and unwind in particularly stressful moments. The teams took part in a make your own stress ball workshop.
Our teams take part in some art therapy. Colouring frees our mind of all the daily routine stresses, allows us to relax and immerse us in meditative wellness, while stimulating our inner creative expression.
Self-awareness allows us to make positive behavioural changes that can lead to greater personal and interpersonal success. Personal growth is vital to your mental health, success and happiness. Our teams took part in a survey to help them become more self-aware.
As the saying goes “laughter is the best medicine”. Laughing releases endorphins and reduces stress chemicals in the brain, thereby providing short-term relief from tension and worry. Laughing also decreases loneliness, pain, anxiety, and insomnia. The teams enjoyed some laughter therapy outdoors.
Mindfulness meditation therapy
Mindfulness reduces rumination, stress, anxiety, negative effects, and emotional reactivity. It improves focus attention and suppresses distracting information, and enhances relationship satisfaction. The teams were able to enjoy some mediation time in one of our meeting rooms.
Massage helps to reduce both physical and emotional stress. With the help of professional masseurs, our colleagues were able to book a session to get a back massage.
Skincare routine and tips
Having a self-care routine has been proven to reduce or eliminate anxiety and depression, reduce stress, improve concentration, increase happiness, improve energy and so much more. The teams enjoyed a talk and demonstration on a good skincare routine.
Petting an animal releases endorphins that produce a calming effect. This helps to alleviate pain, reduce stress, and improve our overall psychological state. Our teams enjoyed some quality time with some animals outdoors.

- Talks on emotional intelligence, work-life balance, healthy diets and mastering your emotions
- Yoga, Zumba and fitness workouts
Nafeesah: "We often underestimate the importance of self-care. The mental health awareness month organised by IQ-EQ allowed us to be part of different activities for prioritising our mental health. The corporate massage has been a great session of reboot. Choose life, protect your mental health."
