IT Product Owner

Job Description

N.B. This role is based in Belfast.

As an IT Product Owner within IQ-EQ's Funds and Institutional segment, you will oversee the management of key business applications. Reporting to the Funds Product Owner, you will work closely with adjacent product owners, acting as a role model and ambassador for the team. This role requires both strong technical expertise and leadership skills, as you will shape the development roadmap and ensure best practices across the business. 

Experience 

  • Experience in coding languages such as Excel VBA, VB.net, Java, C#, or other .NET languages. 
  • Minimum 4 years in application support or development. 
  • At least 2 years in a line management role. 
  • Strong background in SQL, report development, and system integrations (APIs). 
  • Experience in financial services, particularly funds, with accounting knowledge being a plus. 
  • Comfortable working in a global environment. 

Responsibilities 

  • Manage and optimise business-critical software applications, keeping a close eye on costs. 
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team to meet both business goals and personal growth objectives. 
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to define business requirements and set the development roadmap. 
  • Take ownership of Systems Analysis, Business Analysis, Solution Design, and Application Development from an application standpoint. 
  • Gather, analyse, and document requirements for system interfaces and reports. 
  • Act as a key stakeholder for all applications under your management. 
  • Ensure effective control over business requests and identify/report gaps or opportunities for enhancement. 
  • Work closely with the Funds Product Team to deliver high-quality service across all applications. 
  • Partner with the Change Delivery Team to implement business-driven changes. 
  • Ensure services meet agreed service levels for all internal and external clients. 
  • Collaborate with Audit & Compliance to ensure processes align with regulatory requirements. 
  • Manage the team's budget effectively. 

Skills 

  • Knowledge of accounting systems; accounting knowledge is beneficial. 
  • Proficient in SQL (required). 
  • Ability to meet and exceed deadlines while maintaining high standards. 
  • Strong communication skills, especially when presenting to senior stakeholders. 
  • Effective one-on-one leadership and management skills. 
  • Excellent attention to detail. 
  • Strong analytical and numerical abilities. 
  • Problem-solving mindset and conceptual thinking. 
  • Well-organised and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
