Job description

The Deputy Head of Operations role is a senior appointment and key leadership role within the IQ-EQ Jersey Operational Department.  As a result, the Deputy Head of Operations will carry specific accountabilities listed below, but also deputise for the IQ-EQ Jersey Head of Operations when the need arises.

  • Directly manage and oversee the Support Services Operational Teams; ensuring day-to-day activities are delivered effectively, efficiently and in line with internal service expectations and any relevant Key Performance Indicators (“KPIs”).  Proactively and decisively manage any operational issues and/or risks arising and escalate any concerns, issues or challenges promptly and articulately to the Head of Operations.  Manage the relevant IQ-EQ people effectively and proactively in line with expected competencies of the role; ensuring all IQ-EQ People under responsibility are inspired, lead, developed and supported in their roles.
  • Proactively drive, manage and lead any Business Improvement initiatives across the Cluster; which promote more efficient working and ensuring IQ-EQ Jersey continues to demonstrate and deliver a culture and capability for continuous improvement, whether this be formal projects, local, discreet improvement initiatives or simply revisions to IQ-EQ Policies and Procedures (“P&Ps”).  If changes to P&Ps, work with relevant Governance colleagues to enable. 
  • Work with the Head of Operations and other members of the Senior Leadership Team to conceive, manage, resource and oversee the delivery of a defined and agreed programme of change for Jersey; in order to enable the Cluster to meet its financial and Business objectives.  Act as the conduit to IQ-EQ Group Change and other relevant stakeholders and influencers, as necessary.
  • Generally provide close support the Head of Operations with the day-to-day running of the wider IQ-EQ Jersey Operational Department.  Act as alternate and deputy when and where required, in Committee meetings, forums and in operational decision making.  Where required and when agreed, represent the Head of Operations in managing the successful organisation and delivery of the Operations Committee meeting (the “OpCo”) and, on occasion, be prepared to lead and co-ordinate such meetings.
  • Whilst it is acknowledged that the scope of the Deputy Head of Operations’ role will be those elements listed above, across the Cluster, the Funds segment is currently experiencing rapid growth and significant  transformational change; therefore the expectation is that weighted focus and priority will be afforded this Business segment.  


  • A strong and demonstrable track record in a similar, senior Operations role in a similarly regulated Business is highly desirable
  • Experience of managing and leading a complex Business function and/or department is essential
  • Experience in Fund Servicing and Fund Operations is highly desirable
  • A solid understanding of the operational (People, Process, Technology) landscape of TCB/FSB regulated financial services businesses is essential
  • Project and change management qualifications and experience are essential
  • Experience of leading the implementation of technology to aid operational improvements is highly desirable
  • Experience of leading and implementing transformation projects and initiatives is highly desirable
  • Relevant Financial Services (TCB/FSB) professional qualifications are desirable
