Job description
To work closely with the Head of HR, Asia in implementing the HR strategy in support of the business and add value to line managers and employees in delivering a day-to-day service covering all aspects of IQ EQ employment relationships in the Mauritius office. Primarily responsible for performance management, inquiry resolution, people matters (including disciplinary and grievance) recruitment and selection, compensation & benefits, learning and development, and priorities as determined by the partners. To ensure the business remains compliant with employment legislation whilst minimizing disputes, grievances, and employment tribunals.
The role will have line management responsibility in ensuring that recruitment strategies are effectively designed, implemented, and executed. The role also involves a number of activities that require proactive planning and support to improve the current internal processes within the team and play a key role to ensure an efficient service is provided to all staff.
Functional Areas and Responsibilities
- Act as a ‘trusted advisor’ responsible for coaching and advising leadership on business HR matters and act as a conduit between the business and the other services offered within HR (i.e. Recruitment, Employee Relations, Learning and Development, Compensation & Benefits, Performance Management)
- Work with Team Leaders to drive the execution of employee transactions including new hires, transferees, and terminations
- Work closely with Learning & Development function, participate and drive people development activities supporting performance management
- Manage expectations and ideas of employees in the given business area and support subsequent action planning
- Develop and support the implementation of reward and recognition mechanisms. Help managers reward and recognize good performance and support the annual pay review process
- Support the talent management process
- Manage complex employee relations issues from identification to effective resolution, to foster a positive employee relations climate including responding to employment tribunal claims and liaising with third party advisors as necessary
- Drive proactive positive employee relations across the business, using your knowledge of employment law and best practices. You will also facilitate face-to-face training and development sessions on critical topics
- To assist the business in the assessment and impact of major policy and legislative change, initiate and direct strategies to develop the business, and address both challenges and opportunities arising from such policy and legislative changes.
- Manage the maintenance and development of the HR information system to support the needs of the business whilst providing sufficient access to all necessary data and reports
- Act as an HR representative on a comprehensive range of employment relation caseload that may be complex and/or sensitive and contentious such as performance, grievance, harassment and bullying, and sickness management
- Ensure implementation and roll-out of group-wide HR programs and initiatives
- Analysis and reporting - Produce dashboards and reporting to analyze data trends and metrics and provide insight and takeaways/recommendations from the data.
- Culture management – Partner with management to promote our values and culture and provide advice and suggestions for culture-related initiatives.
