Job description

Due to continued business growth and multiple acquisitions, we at IQ-EQ are going through a global transformation and have a newly created and exciting opportunity seeking an Enterprise Application Architect. You will be pivotal in leading key aspects of architecture predominately focused around the application space reporting to the Head of Group Architecture.

What to expect in your day to day role:

  • Shape initial thinking on project solutions, factoring in internal drivers (architecture principles and technology strategy) and external market/regulatory forces
  • Influence and manage stakeholders (up to Board level), ensuring the Group’s Enterprise Application Architecture informs the strategic investment plan and that all solutions delivered through the change portfolio realise the strategic intent
  • Provide architectural oversight and design authority on solution delivery, working with key project, technology and business stakeholders
  • Provide technology agnostic subject matter guidance around Enterprise Application capabilities and their alignment with business processes
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with external parties, e.g. software vendors and research companies, to promote technology innovation and ensure the Group Architecture is future-proofed and in line with industry best-practice and market trends
  • Act as the go-to person for project solution architects, business analysts, and product owners for design and roadmap queries

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Define and ensure the architecture and design approach is appropriately planned and delivered against
  • Collaborate across the business in the creation of, then manage and maintain, business focused architectural roadmaps across the whole Technology Services scope. Inclusive of developing an innovation space for value creating technology solutions; balancing value against cost
  • Own the suitability of the activities and artefacts to ensure the approach is not under/over engineered, and quality assurance of project architectural deliverables
  • Provide technical authority and governance across key strategic portfolios
  • Present at C-Level and to Segment Leads to win over key stakeholders in respect of solutions/change required
  • Maintain key architectural assets and processes

Qualifications

  • Degree level education is preferred but equivalent professional experience is acceptable
  • Experience and use of architecture frameworks or standards, e.g. TOGAF, Zachman, PEAF
  • ITIL (Highly Desired)

Skills & Experience:

  • 3 years Architectural experience within an Architecture function (at an enterprise level or as a lead solution architect) or within a relevant consultancy firm
  • Experience of working in an agile development environment
  • Prior experience in architecting CRM, Risk & Compliance, Office 365 and/or acquired company integration programmes is beneficial
  • Understanding of the product and project development lifecycle from strategy or pre-sales to live operation and support.
  • Understanding of solution trade-offs such as cost, scope, timescale, and balance between long-term strategic and short-term pragmatic considerations.
  • Ability to work with a variety of business, domain and technology experts to develop solutions
  • Extensive knowledge of enterprise application applications
  • Knowledge of the key elements of business, data, technical and security architecture

Experience within one of the following (preferable):

  • Fund or Wealth management sector
  • Wider financial services industry
  • A highly regulated professional services industry
  • Experience within an Enterprise Architecture function or a relevant consultancy firm
  • Experience of working in multi-national environment
