Responsibilities (how we will measure success)

This role will play a major part in developing and implementing predictive models along with conducting detailed data exploration to maximise business value & growth through the application of data science techniques. The predictive models created will feed critical business infrastructure, offering a fantastic platform to hone your machine learning skills with direct impact on business objectives. You will work as part of a high-performing data science & insight team with ownership of models and the modelling process in the wider modelling eco-system.

Tasks (what does the role do on a day-to-day basis)

  •  Build a core understanding of the company performance metrics to qualitatively inform and interpret models
  • Help shape and inform the modelling roadmap and R&D strategy
  • Provide high level scientific expertise for new and on-going activities within the company. Provide technical or scientific direction and expertise to all areas of forecasting
  • Design innovative experiments and multivariate testing frameworks to evaluate added benefits of AI
  • Evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of machine learning solutions and operationalise concepts from successful prototypes in collaboration with Data Platform Architects & Engineers
  • Apply statistical and advanced analytical techniques to optimise and improve business performance for specific business problems and use cases
  • Seek out and manage new sources of data for use in all aspects of forecasting, making IQ-EQ best in class in utilising the most expansive data sets available
  • Regular delivery of data science projects – both large and small – that drives business benefit and gives us a competitive advantage
  • Engage the wider analytical community by pushing best practice, helping coach data scientists and upskilling business analysts
  • Use analysis to predict, measure, interpret business trends & make appropriate recommendations
  • Produce high-quality code that allows us to put solutions into production
  • Refactor code into reusable libraries, APIs, and tools
  •  Help us to shape the next generation of our products

 

Qualifications

The perfect candidate for us will be experienced in managing and leading a team, but also hands-on and passionate about building the latest machine learning predictive models. You will have strong skills in data wrangling/manipulation which will allow you to navigate and leverage our significant data assets to build the optimal production models.

  • In-depth knowledge of machine learning algorithms. Deep knowledge of both supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques.
  • Extensive experience of predictive or behavioural analytics and recommendation systems.
  • Knowledge of reinforcement learning is a plus.
  • Extensive experience of the full machine learning development lifecycle including: experiment design, feature engineering, validation, deployment and monitoring.
  • Experience of leading and mentoring a team of data scientists.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner with Product and Engineering teams.
  • Hands on experience of working with cross functional teams.
  • Passionate about innovative data and machine learning applications to drive positive outcomes for our customers.
  • Significant experience doing quantitative analysis.
  • Solid statistical analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to drive projects to completion with minimal guidance.
  • Experience in data analysis with SQL and Python.
  • Experience with at least one of AWS, GCP or Microsoft.

 

Nice to have

  • MSc/PhD in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics or other technical field. Advanced degrees preferred.
  • Practical NLP experience using Word2Vec, embeddings and spaCy
  • Comfortable working with AWS, lambdas, step functions, Glue jobs, Sagemaker etc.
  • Experience in software engineering best practices will be welcome.
  • Experience working with Big Data and libraries like pyspark, dask etc.
  • Experience with Node.js and JavaScript.
